Dr Jardine has over 25 years professional experience, and 15 years progressive experience researching and working in the field of gender equity in the policing and security sector, gender-based violence and LGBTQ inclusion and discrimination.
She has a PhD from the UNSW Law School (Australia) in organisational culture and gender in male-dominated environments across the Asia-Pacific, and has worked on these topics for UN Women, UNODC, INTERPOL and more. She has published both qualitative and quantitative research and is especially skilled at conducting research and gender needs assessments (documentary, legal and policy analysis, interviews, focus group discussions) and providing policy advice that is both gender-sensitive and human rights-based.
Dr Jardine was a Victoria Police officer for 10 years (2001-2011) working at the frontline and in criminal investigations and is a current member of the Strategic Planning Committee for the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) and the inaugural Editor for the IAWP eJournal and Research Paper Series.
Dr Jardine is currently a Partner Investigator on a four-year Australian Research Council Discovery Project at the University of the Sunshine Coast, to investigate gender-responsive policing and GBV in the Pacific, specifically Fiji.
Much of her work focuses on improving the conditions to make male dominated organisations and architectures more inclusive, spanning gender as well as LGBTQ+ inclusion, especially in relation to government agencies and criminal justice organisations.
She has worked in Afghanistan, Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, Djibouti, Fiji, Indonesia, Kenya, Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Rwanda, Scotland, the Seychelles Islands, Singapore, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. Additionally, she has undertaken substantial desk research in relation to Brunei, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, New Zealand and Turkmenistan.
