The Program Committee for the LEPH2025 conference is calling for individuals, agencies and networks to contribute to the 7th International Law Enforcement and Public Health (LEPH) Conference scheduled for July 13-16, 2025. All submitted presentations will undergo peer review and selection by the LEPH2025 Program Committee.

Across the broadest range of issues that connect public health to public safety, the LEPH2025 conference aims to:

  • Foster tangible collaborations between the sectors of law enforcement, public health and communities
  • Ensure that law enforcement and public health missions are driven by the needs, values and concerns of the people they serve
  • Redistribute responsibilities across systems in furtherance of community safety and wellbeing
  • Bring a lens focused on racial, ethnic, socioeconomic and gender equity to both public health and law enforcement systems

Marginalisation is an enemy of security and health: inclusive policing and public health partnerships to overcome marginalisation are key. Extra weight will be given to proposals and abstracts that consider equity or are viewed through an equity lens – especially with regard to:

  • Indigenous/First nations communities
  • Black/racialized minorities
  • People with lived experience
  • Relevance to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Presentations on addressing and overcoming Racial/ethnic disparities in access to health and involvement with criminal justice are especially sought.

Submissions will be accepted for several types of presentations, and the Program Committee will be strongly considering the content, the creativity and the relevance of abstracts to the focus of the conference in delivering information and experience to our international audience.

Please review the conference themes here:

These themes are not exclusive; the Program Committee will consider submissions addressing issues concerning both law enforcement and public health other than those listed here.

PRESENTATION FORMATS

Individual Presentation:

Individuals may submit a proposal for an oral presentation; selected individual proposals will be grouped with other similar themed presentations for programing consistency and impact. Where possible within time limitations, individual presenters will be able to engage the conference audience through Q & A.

Panel Presentation:

A panel presentation is made up of 3-5 presenters on one conference related conference theme, moderated (usually) by one of the panelists. All Co-panelists should be invited by the panel proposer and agree to participate prior to the abstract submission. Submissions should include names and contact information of all co-panelists. Where possible within time limitations, individual panel members will be able to engage the conference audience through Q & A.

Poster Presentation:

Individuals may submit a proposal for a poster presentation which will allow the presenter to describe their research, a case study, or another topic that can be effectively delivered via a single poster. Presenters will be given the opportunity to engage the conference audience through a scheduled poster Q & A time.

Marketplace of Ideas:

The Marketplace of Ideas sessions are a key element of the LEPH conferences; they are an opportunity for presentations of innovative partnerships, collaborative programs and other practical initiatives, whether evaluated or not. They have a longer time (usually 45 minutes) and generally a smaller audience to promote interaction, engagement and networking. These presentations can include training materials, videos, recorded interviews, PowerPoint shows, live or recorded presentations from the program itself with interviews of staff and/or clients, site tours, or other types of experiences – be creative in showcasing your program or project. Optimally but not necessarily presentations will be a team drawn from the law enforcement, public health and community sectors.

Other formats:

If you have an idea for a useful and interesting presentation that does not fit into one of the above formats, please get in touch with the Program Director to discuss the possibility of its inclusion.
